Jammu and Kashmir: Jawan killed in firing in Ramban district
The police said they were investigating if the incident in the Banihal belt was a militant attack.
A jawan of the Sashastra Seema Bal was killed and another was injured in a firing at a camp of the paramilitary force in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Wednesday, said the police.
The police called the firing in the Banihal belt suspicious, but confirmed the incident. “We are trying to verify if it was a terror attack or a case of fratricide,” Senir Superintendent of Police Mohan Lal told PTI.
The jawans were deployed in the area to protect a construction company setting up a rail tunnel.
More details are awaited.
