Kashmir: Two constables arrested for supplying ammunition to Hizbul militants, say police
Hizbul Mujahideen militant Adil Ahmad Negroo was also arrested.
The Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two constables in south Kashmir’s Shopian district for supplying ammunition to militant group Hizbul Mujahideen, The Times of India reported on Wednesday. A Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Adil Ahmad Negroo, was also arrested.
Constables Shabir Ahmad Malik and Nazir Ahmed Najar were arrested on Wednesday for supplying 40 rounds of ammunition to suspected militants in south and central Kashmir. Negroo is an associate of Waseem Wagay, an active militant, the police said.
“We recovered some live rounds of AK 47 from Negroo,” Superintendent of Police AS Dinkar told The New Indian Express.
“We have zero tolerance for such acts and will ensure strict and a quick punishment for the guilty,” The Times of India quoted Director General of Police SP Vaid as saying. A strong in-house surveillance helped track the two police constables, he said.
