India is a strong nation under Narendra Modi, not weak anymore, says Rajnath Singh
The home minister said this new strength helped in resolving the standoff with China at Doklam.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh claimed that India has become a strong country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party, PTI reported on Sunday.
“India’s borders are completely safe, and China has started to understand that India is no more weak. Its strength has grown,” he said at an event in Lucknow. “Since the formation of government at the Centre under the leadership of PM Modi, India has become a powerful country in the world.” India’s prestige at the international level has grown, he added.
The home minister said that the Army killing terrorists everyday was a testament to the country’s strength in national security. “It [Pakistan] tries to break India, but our security personnel every day kill two to four terrorists,” he added.
This new strength was responsible for the resolution of the Doklam standoff with China, Singh added, according to ANI. The Doklam plateau is located near the tri-junction of India, Bhutan and China. Both Thimphu and Beijing claim it as their territory.
During the Indo-Sino standoff between June and August, Beijing and New Delhi had both maintained that troops from the other nation had transgressed into their territory in the region. Bilateral ties were strained after the Indian Army stopped China from constructing a road in Doklam. India had announced the disengagement of its troops from Dolkam on August 29 after a 74-day standoff.
