At least 47 people were killed and 46 injured in an explosion at a fireworks factory in the outskirts of Jakarta in Indonesia on Thursday, Reuters reported. The fire broke out at an industrial complex in Tangerang, a satellite city of the Capital, in the morning.

Jakarta Police spokesperson Argo Yuwono said 103 workers were in the building when the blaze broke out. The fate of 10 workers is unknown, but Yuwono said they may have escaped the factory with minor injuries.

Firefighter Oni Sahroni told Metro Television that those who were killed had been burned beyond recognition. Parts of the factory building collapsed because of the fire, and cars parked nearby were scorched.

The flames have been brought under control.
