A Delhi-bound Jet Airways flight from Mumbai was diverted to Ahmedabad early on Monday after a note with a hijack threat was found in the aircraft’s toilet, ANI reported.

One man – identified as Salla Birju – has been arrested, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said. Birju is believed to have confessed that he had kept the note in the aircraft to destabilise the airline’s operations. Raju said he had advised Jet Airways to add him on the “No-Fly” list immediately and also take other statutory criminal action.

The airline said the flight was diverted after an emergency was declared following the threat. All 115 passengers were deplaned at the Ahmedabad airport and screened, PTI reported.

According to security agencies, the note said: “The aircraft is covered by hijackers, should not land in Delhi, should be flown straight to PoK [Pakistan-occupied Kashmir].”

The flight took off from Mumbai at 2.55 am and landed at Ahmedabad around 3.45 am.
