Rising intolerance has thrown Indira Gandhi’s idea of India into question, says Rahul Gandhi
On the occasion of her 33rd death anniversary, he said a view of Indianness that is one-sided, discriminatory and even warped was being thrust upon the country.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that the rising intolerance in the country has thrown the idea of India that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi fought for into question, ANI reported.
Gandhi, who was speaking at an event organised in New Delhi on the 33rd death anniversary of the former prime minister, said, “A view of Indianness that is one-sided, discriminatory, even warped is being thrust upon us and this country.”
Rahul Gandhi added that the country’s heritage is in the hands of those who are “bent on rewriting history, imposing falsehood and unscientific ideas” on the people. “Like her, we must all be unfazed and undaunted against the forces of darkness.”
Indira Gandhi was assassinated by two of her security guards on October 31, 1984. Earlier on Tuesday, various leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind, paid their tributes to her.
