Folk singer Harshita Dahiya’s killers did not charge any money, say Panipat Police
Her brother-in-law Dinesh Mathur had reached an understanding with Jitender Gogi while serving their jail terms.
A gangster who carried out the killing of Haryana folk singer Harshita Dahiya did not take any money from her brother-in-law, who allegedly planned the murder, The Indian Express reported on Thursday, quoting the police.
Three days after her murder on October 17 in Panipat, Dahiya’s brother-in-law, Dinesh Mathur, had during interrogation admitted that he was behind it. Mathur was already in jail for a rape case.
The police have now found that the murder was committed by four men, led by Jitender Gogi, an undertrial who had escaped when he was being taken to court in July 2016, according to The Indian Express.
Gogi and Mathur had met in prison and had reached an understanding that Gogi would kill Dahiya if he got out of jail. In return, Mathur would kill Gogi’s rivals when he was freed. They agreed to not take any money from each other for this, Panipat Deputy Superintendent of Police Desh Raj told the newspaper.
Police are still looking for Gogi, who is involved in cases of extortion and arms smuggling along the Delhi-Haryana border.
