Kolkata Police arrest Bangladeshi man with suspected links to banned terror outfit
The police said they have so far caught three suspected Bangladeshi militants and are on the lookout for two more people.
The Kolkata Police on Friday arrested a man from Bangladesh suspected to have links with banned militant organisation Ansarullah Bangla Team, The Hindu reported.
A senior police official identified the person arrested on Friday as Sahadat Hossain alias Babu. “He helped two suspected Ansarullah Bangla Team members cross the border and took them to Hyderabad,” the official said. Hossain was arrested from Sealdah in Kolkata.
The police are on the lookout for two more suspected militants, Shopon Biswas alias Sajol Ahmed alias Moon alias Tamim, and Nayan Gazi alias Zafor alias Safik alias Saiful alias Ariful Gazi, according to DNA.
On Tuesday, the Special Task Force of the West Bengal Police had arrested two Bangladeshis, Samsad Mia alias Tushar Biswas and Riazul Islam alias Riaz alias Suman, and Indian arms dealer Mantosh Dey for allegedly having links with the outfit. The suspected militants were arrested from Kolkata’s Howrah Railway Station, and documents related to the al-Qaeda were recovered from them.
The banned Ansarullah Bangla Team is believed to be behind the murders of bloggers and intellectuals in Bangladesh. The organisation reportedly has direct links with the al-Qaeda network in the Indian sub-continent.
