Ivanka Trump reached Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Tuesday morning. The daughter and adviser of United States President Donald Trump will address the inaugural session of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day. The summit is being hosted for the first time in South East Asia, by the governments of India and the US.

The theme of the 2017 summit is “Women First, Prosperity for All”. Some of the women speakers scheduled to speak at the summit include tennis champion Sania Mirza, Google’s Vice President of Next Billion Users Diana Louise Patricia Layfield, and Chief Executive Officer of Afghan Citadel Software Company Roya Mahboob, ANI reported.

On Monday, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant had said that providing greater impetus to women entrepreneurs would be critical for India’s growth. He also said the theme of the GES demonstrates India and US’ commitment to empowering women. “This summit has a majority of women participation (52.5%), with over 10 countries being led by all-women delegation,” Kant said. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will also attend the summit, the Niti Aayog chief added.

On Tuesday afternoon, Modi arrived in Hyderabad and Telanagana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao welcomed him at the airport. Addressing journalists at Hyderabad airport, Modi said, “Today, the attention of the world is on Hyderabad. This city is hosting a prestigious international summit where industry leaders from the world are joining.”

While the Bharatiya Janata Party “has not got many opportunities to serve in government in the southern part of the country, our karyakartas are always working on the ground and being with people”, he said. “Whatever the BJP is today, it is due to the hard work and sweat of countless BJP workers and their families.”

Modi will launch the Hyderabad metro later on Tuesday and take an inaugural ride with Rao.
