BBC apologises after airing footage of Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor in tribute to Shashi Kapoor
News editor Paul Royall later said that this was not up to the channel’s usual standards and apologised.

The BBC on Tuesday apologised after it played the footage of actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor while announcing the news of Shashi Kapoor’s demise. Kapoor died on Monday in Mumbai at the age of 79.
Soon, a clip made it to Twitter, where it was criticised by social media users.
Hang on @bbcnews Shashi Kapoor has died not Amitabh Bachan or Rishi Kapoor, who you've weirdly used to illustrate the story. pic.twitter.com/48jo6DGjU6

@bbcPoV @newswatchbbc Last night @BBCNews broadcast news of the death of Indian actor Shashi Kapoor but in doing so showed pictures of another loved actor.Amitabh Bachchan. Are BBC so ignorant of the subcontinent and its personalities?

News editor Paul Royall later said this was not up to the BBC’s usual standards and apologised for the gaffe.
#BBCNewsTen is very sorry wrong images were used to mark the death of Shashi Kapoor. Not our usual standards and I apologise for any upset.
