Jammu and Kashmir: Three suspected militants, civilian killed in encounter in Handwara town
Director General of Police SP Vaid said the militants were ‘apparently Pakistanis’.

Three suspected militants were killed in an encounter with security forces that started late Sunday in Unisoo village in Handwara town of Jammu and Kashmir, Director General of Police SP Vaid said. A woman was also killed in the gunfight, while trying to escape the house where the militants were hiding, Greater Kashmir reported.
Vaid said the militants were “apparently Pakistanis”. The state police, Rashtriya Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force had started a search and cordon operation after receiving information about the presence of militants in Handwara.
Internet services have been suspended in Sopore, Baramulla, Handwara and Kupwara, according to ANI. The search operation is still under way.
