Six people were killed and 12 were injured after their bus fell into a gorge near Chenani in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Sunday night, The Indian Express reported.

The police have registered a case and are investigating what caused the accident. Initial reports said that the vehicle was parked on a slope when its gear got unlocked accidentally.

The passengers were on their way home to Pachot village in Kud after attending a wedding in Sarore village. Five people died on the spot, Greater Kashmir reported, and one person later in the hospital. Two of those injured are believed to be in a critical condition.
