Delhi government reserves 50% of beds at GB Pant Hospital for local residents
The patient should be in need of specialised treatment or a surgery planned in advance to be admitted under this order.
The Delhi government on Thursday decided to reserve 50% of the beds at GB Pant Hospital for residents of the national Capital. An order from the Health and Family Welfare Department said the Delhi residents should have been referred to the facility by another government hospital to avail a reserved bed, The Hindu reported.
The patient should also be in need of specialised treatment or a surgery planned in advance, the government notification said.
“When hospitals in Delhi get complicated cases, they refer them to the GB Pant Hospital,” Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said. “Lately, hospitals are witnessing a rush of patients, due to which Delhi residents are not able to get treatment for six months to a year. So we made this decision.”
GB Pant Hospital, with 714 beds, is a super-specialty facility on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg that is run by the Delhi government.
