Air India on Wednesday issued an apology after a passenger tweeted about a picture of a cockroach on a plate at the airline’s lounge at Delhi airport. Journalist Harinder Baweja posted the photo of the insect on a plate at the facility used by passengers flying in the business and first- class sections.
The airline said it had started an investigation into the matter. “We have alerted the agency managing [the] lounge at T3,” the airline said on Twitter. “Necessary corrective measures are being taken immediately.”

In 2015, a passenger had claimed that he spotted a lizard in his in-flight meal. The airline had refuted the allegations.
