United States President Donald Trump on Saturday said that a deal with North Korea is “in the making” and “will be a good one for the world”. Trump’s statement on Twitter follows South Korea’s announcement that the US president had accepted an invitation from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to meet him.

“The time and place to be determined,” Trump tweeted.

North Korea is yet to comment on the announcement about the meeting between Trump and Kim Jong-un. If the meeting takes place, it would be the first ever between leaders of the two countries.

US Department of State Secretary Rex Tillerson had said it will take “some weeks” to arrange the meeting between the two leaders, AP reported. Tillerson told mediapersons that the decision to meet the North Korean leader was one “the president took himself”.

However, Trump’s press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters that North Korea has “promised to denuclearise”, BBC reported. Sanders said: “We are not going to have this meeting take place until we see concrete actions.”

The 10-member South Korean delegation, which had held talks with Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang earlier this week, is now in Washington. They had said the North Korean leader had agreed to stop nuclear and missile tests, reported BBC. Later, the US president had said it was a “great progress”, but added that sanctions against North Korea will remain in place until an agreement is reached.
