Five-year-old girl kidnapped from Maharashtra found dead in railway station toilet in Gujarat
Police said an unidentified woman had abducted the child from outside her home in Nalasopara.
A five-year-old girl, who was reported kidnapped in Maharashtra on March 24, was found dead in a womens’ toilet at the Navsari railway station in Gujarat on Tuesday, PTI reported. The police said an unidentified woman had kidnapped the child from outside her home in Nalasopara in Palghar district.
The police are investigating if she was strangled. “The police suspect that the woman was either a resident of the locality or acquainted with the area,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Jayant Bajbale told PTI.
The police have prepared a sketch of the accused based on the closed-circuit television footage from a traffic signal in the area. They have described the accused as a “tall woman in her thirties”, The Times of India reported. The child’s father, however, could not identify the accused based on the sketch.
The police have registered a case of kidnapping and murder.
