Uttar Pradesh BJP MP claims there is conspiracy to end reservations, says Centre silent on it
Savitri Bai Phule said she will hold a rally in Lucknow on April 1 to protest against those in the BJP who oppose quotas.
Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party MP Savitri Bai Phule said that there was a conspiracy to end reservations and the Centre was doing nothing about it, News 18 reported on Tuesday. Phule told the news channel that she will hold a rally in Lucknow on April 1 to protest against those people in the BJP who oppose reservation.
“There is continuous debate regarding the review of the Constitution and reservations, which is a disguised effort to end quotas,” Phule said. “I have already held a rally against the issue at Nanpara in Bahraich last year and now I am going to hold an Arakshan Bachao Rally [Save Reservation Rally] in Lucknow.”
She said the backward classes in the country will not be represented properly in society if reservation is scrapped. “The government today does not seem worried about the issue,” she added. However, Phule did not name any BJP leaders who were against reservations.
