Asaduddin Owaisi says his party will support JD(S) in Karnataka elections
He said his party will not field any candidates but will help the state get a ‘non-BJP, non-Congress government’.
Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen Party, on Monday said his party will support the Janata Dal (Secular) in the May 12 Assembly elections in Karnataka and not field its own candidates, The NewsMinute reported.
“All our efforts and endeavours will be to ensure that JD(S) gets the maximum number of seats,” Owaisi told reporters. “HD Kumaraswamy should become the chief minister, and the party led by [former prime minister] Deve Gowda should rule Karnataka.”
Referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, the AIMIM chief said “the two national parties have failed to live up to the aspirations and hopes of the people of Karnataka”. “It is in the interest of Karnataka, in the interest of the nation that a non-Congress, non-BJP government comes to power both in Karnataka and subsequently whenever the Parliament elections are held,” Owaisi said.
