Madhya Pradesh: Senior Congress leader and former state minister Rajendra Singh dies at 86

Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh state minister Rajendra Singh died in Bhopal on Sunday. He suffered a heart attack and died before he could be taken to a hospital, PTI reported. He was 86.
Singh served as a minister in the state government from 1975 to 1977. The Congress leader was first elected MLA in 1972. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter. His son, Ashok Singh, is the vice president of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committe.
His last rites will be performed on Tuesday, Ashok Singh said.
Congress general secretary and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Digvijay Singh, expressed his condolences. Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh called Rajendra Singh a dedicated soldier of the Congress and said his death was an irreparable loss to the party in the state.
