Uttar Pradesh: Four arrested for allegedly murdering two sisters in Etawah district
The police said that the murders might be related to a one-sided love affair.
The police on Wednesday arrested four men in connection with the killing of two sisters in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district. A 19-year-old woman and her 15-year-old sister were found shot dead in a village in the district in the early hours of Tuesday.
“Under the able guidance of SSP, Etawah Police cracked the murder case of two sisters within 24 hours, and arrested four suspects,” the police said on Twitter, referring to Senior Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Tripathi.
The police believe that the murders are related to a one-sided love affair. The elder sister’s boyfriend Vineet, alias Jitu, masterminded the crime with with his friends Ativeer, Anand and Ranjeet, they suspect.
During interrogation, Vinit told the police that he shot dead the sisters after the elder one refused to meet him on April 16. The younger sister was killed because she witnessed the crime, News18 quoted unidentified police officials as saying.
The two sisters had reportedly gone to a field near their house in the middle of the night to relieve themselves when the incident took place. Their bodies were sent for autopsy to ascertain if they had been sexually assaulted. Tripathi said on Tuesday that the police also recovered a liquor bottle from the crime scene.
