The Delhi Police on Friday arrested a merchant navy officer for allegedly stalking and harassing five women students of a South Delhi college. The accused, identified as 29-year-old Suraj Dey, worked with a Hong Kong-based company, NDTV reported on Sunday, quoting unidentified police officers.

Dey had met one of the women and they had exchanged numbers after he told her he was looking for accommodation for a friend. In a complaint filed on April 17, the student told the police he began to misbehave with her a few days later and even stalked her and sent lewd messages from other numbers after she blocked him.

While investigating the complaint, the Delhi Police found that Dey had been sending obscene messages to four other girls of the same college and used multiple phone numbers to harass students, according to NDTV.

A Delhi court on Saturday remanded the accused in three-day judicial custody.
