The Times of India on Friday clarified that images of an article about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s summit this week with Chinese President Xi Jinping, purporting to have been carried in its editions, were Photoshopped. “Modi, Xi will mate 6 times in 24 hours,” read the headline in the photo of the purported article doing the rounds on social media.

Modi and Xi are meeting in the Chinese city of Wuhan on Friday and Saturday to discuss bilateral and global issues.

“A Photoshopped image of our headline on the Modi-Xi meet is doing the rounds,” the English daily tweeted. “All our editions carry the correct headline. You can see the difference when the correct and fake headlines are placed together. The one on the right is the photoshopped image with the word ‘mate’ tilted.”

Images of the purported headline generated many snide comments on social media. Here are some of the reactions.
