Jammu and Kashmir: Civilian, three suspected militants killed in encounter
Two CRPF jawans and a policeman were injured too.
A civilian and three suspected militants were killed during an encounter in Chattabal area of Srinagar on Saturday morning, PTI reported quoting a police official. Two Central Reserve Police Force jawans and a policeman were also injured.
“Three terrorists have been killed, three security personnel have been injured,” said CRPF Inspector General Ravideep Sahi. “It was a clean operation, there has been no damage to the building. I thank the people of Srinagar for their cooperation.”
Three photojournalists also sustained injuries while they were near the encounter site, Rising Kashmir reported. They have been identified as Farooq Javed Khan, Javed Dar and Omar Asif.
The security forces launched a search operation in Tabela Chattabal area in Safakadal town after getting inputs about the presence of militants. “The search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding militants fired upon the search party of the security forces, who retaliated,” a police official told PTI. “The gunfight is still on.”
Reports said that a vehicle owned by the security forces allegedly ran over the civilian, Adil Ahmad, during the encounter.
