Tripura: BSF jawan allegedly shoots three colleagues dead, kills himself
A Border Security Force official said an investigation has been launched into the incident.
A Border Security Force soldier allegedly shot three colleagues dead before killing himself on Sunday at a border outpost at Magurulli in Tripura’s Unakoti district.
Officer-in-charge of the Irani police station, Swapan Debbarma, said Constable Sishu Pal went to the station to deposit his service rifle to Head Constable Bijoy Kumar on Sunday afternoon after his shift ended, and opened fire at Kumar, killing him, PTI reported. Debbarma added that he did not know if there was an altercation between Pal and Kumar.
“After killing Kumar, Pal went berserk and fired indiscriminately to fatally injure two more constables – Rinku Kumar and Rakesh Kumar Jadav,” Debbarma said. The jawan then turned the rifle on himself.
Rinku Kumar died at the Unakoti district hospital, while Jadav died at the ILS Hospital in Agartala.
The Border Security Force Deputy Inspector General Mrityunjaya Kumar told IANS that they have begun an investigation, and are waiting for a report on the matter.
