J&K: Police arrest four militants suspected of killing civilians, seven overground workers also held
A police officer said a pistol and a car were recovered from the militants.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said they had arrested four militants and seven overground workers in Baramulla district, GNS news agency reported. An unidentified police officer told the agency that the special operations group and the Army arrested the militants and the workers in separate raids in Drangbal, Old Town Baramulla, and Sopore towns.
“During the investigations, it has been revealed that the militants were involved in the attack on three youths in Baramulla on April 30, which led to their deaths,” the officer added. He said the militants were identified as Nasir Ahmad Mochi, Bilal Ahmad Najar, Aijaz Ahmad Gojri and Nadeem Kalia alias Ustad. He said a pistol and a car were recovered from them.
The officer said six of the seven overground workers had also been identified – as Owais Rashid Bhat, Ozair Ahmad Bhat, Ameen Bhat, Muzamil Bashir, Sharif Bashir Bhat and Nayeem Abdulla.
Asghar Khan, Asif Khan and Haseeb Khan, the youths, had been found dead in Old Baramulla Town on April 30, their bodies riddled with bullets. Security forces had blamed the attack on Lashkar-e-Taiba militants.
