Prison authorities deny reports that Lalu Yadav was granted parole to attend son’s wedding
Tej Pratap Yadav’s wedding will be held on May 12.
Prison authorities in Jharkhand have denied reports that Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was granted a five-day parole to attend the wedding of his son Tej Pratap Yadav, PTI reported. Lalu Yadav is serving a prison term after a court found him guilty in several fodder scam cases.
Tej Pratap Yadav, the older of Lalu Yadav’s two sons, was a minister in the state Cabinet and remains a party legislator. He will marry Aishwarya Rai, the eldest daughter of RJD leader Chandrika Prasad Rai, on May 12 in Patna.
“We moved an application before the inspector general (jails) yesterday [Monday] for parole from May 10 to May 14,” party MLA Bhola Yadav had told PTI on Tuesday. “We hope that our leader will not be deprived of the opportunity to attend the marriage ceremony of his son which is an occasion that comes once in a lifetime.”
The former Bihar chief minister was undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi until April 30, when he was discharged and sent back to Ranchi Medical College. He had claimed there was a conspiracy against him and that he was not well enough to be shifted. He had said it was a conspiracy to worsen his health.
