United States: At least eight killed in shooting at high school in Santa Fe
One suspect has been arrested and another has been detained.

At least eight people were killed in a shooting at a high school in Texas’s Santa Fe city on Friday, reported CNN. A suspect in the shooting has been arrested, school’s Assistant Principal Cris Richardson told reporters. Another suspect has been detained, tweeted Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
One of the suspects opened fire inside the school at about 7.45 am (7.15 pm Indian time) when the school was about to start for the day, said Joe Giusti, a Galveston County commissioner, according to The New York Times. He said a police officer, who was injured in the shooting, worked for the Santa Fe school district as a school resource officer.
A student of the school told ABC13 that a gunman entered her art class with what looked like a shotgun and began shooting at students. She said she saw a student get hit in the leg before she and others started running.
Harris County sheriff’s office tweeted that there was no longer an “active shooting situation”.

The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is treating two patients, said hospital spokesperson Raul Reyes, according to The Houston Chronicle. He said more patients were expected to be brought to the hospital.
