The meteorological department has forecast thunderstorm with light rain in Delhi and the National Capital Region, including Nuh, Palwal, Noida, Faridabad, Hodal, Mathura and Agra on Saturday evening. Strong winds exceeding 80kmph have also been forecast for the next few hours.

“It was partly cloudy sky in the morning and rains or thundershowers are likely to occur towards the evening,” an India Meteorological Department official told NDTV.

The department has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied with squalls in isolated places in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal on Saturday and Sunday. Thunderstorms are forecast in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Dust storms have been forecast in West Rajasthan.

At least 80 people died on Sunday as dust storms and thunderstorms hit parts of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi. In the national Capital, at least 40 flights were diverted and 24 delayed.
