Bihar: BJP legislator’s sons booked for allegedly confining, attempting to rape an air hostess
MLC Awadhesh Narayan Singh, however, denied the allegations.
The Bihar police have booked the sons of a Bharatiya Janata Party legislator for allegedly confining and attempting to rape an air hostess on May 16.
A complaint was filed at the women’s police station at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on May 19, The Indian Express reported. The police said the complainant was friends with Bihar MLC Awadhesh Narayan Singh’s sons, Sushant Singh and Prashant Singh. On May 16, the woman went to their home as Sushant Singh invited her over to clear a misunderstanding between them.
An argument broke out between the brothers and the complainant, following which they locked her up in a room, the police said, adding that a domestic worker at the house rescued her.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said the police would hear “both sides of the story” before taking action.
Patna Superintendent of Police D Amarkesh told News 18 that a team has been formed to arrest the accused. “Initially, we went looking for them at their residence, but found no trace of them,” Amarkesh said. “They are absconding now. We are constantly trying to track their movement.”
MLC Singh, however, denied the allegations.“I have given good values to my sons. I have spoken to them [about the incident]. Let there be a fair investigation,” MLC Singh said.
