The Allahabad High Court on Monday sought the response of the Central Bureau of Investigation to an affidavit which alleged that the agency was not conducting a fair probe into the death of a rape complainant’s father in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, PTI reported. The complainant’s mother filed the plea alleging that the agency was not conducting an impartial investigation into her husband’s death.

Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar has been accused of raping a teenage girl in 2014. On Saturday, the CBI booked Sengar in a fresh case of criminal conspiracy, for allegedly framing the victim’s father in a false case. The police had booked her father under the Arms Act. He died in judicial custody on April 9.

On Monday, the High Court also stayed the proceedings in the rape case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act at a local court in Unnao. The High Court said the state’s counsel had informed it that the Uttar Pradesh government would transfer the case to Lucknow on CBI request.

The court said it will hear the matter next on May 30.
