The Kerala Police on Friday said they have filed cases against the daughter of an assistant director general of police and his driver in Thiruvananthapuram, PTI reported. The driver, identified as Gavaskar, alleged the woman assaulted him while she accused him of abusing her.

Gavaskar is attached to the Special Armed Police camp in Thiruvananthapuram. He has been working as a driver for Sudesh Kumar, the head of the Armed Police Battalion, NDTV reported.

In his complaint, Gavaskar alleged that the police official’s daughter and wife were angry with him for not arriving at a location on time. The driver claimed that she assaulted him when he requested her to stop abusing him.

Gavaskar is being treated for injuries sustained during the assault at a hospital in Thiruvanathapuram.

The driver’s wife met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan later on Friday and submitted a written request seeking his intervention in the matter. The Chief Minister’s Office has directed the city Crime Branch to investigate the matter, News18 reported.

Meanwhile, Kerala police chief L Behara has said his department will investigate both complaints. Behara said allegations that some senior officers are misusing official vehicles will also be looked into.
