Jammu and Kashmir: Civilian killed in Kulgam hours after Centre revokes unilateral ceasefire
Suspected militants barged into Mohammad Iqbal Kawa’s home and opened fire, the police said.
Unidentified gunmen killed a 45-year-old man in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday evening, hours after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced that anti-terror operations in the Valley will resume. Suspected militants barged into Mohammad Iqbal Kawa’s home and opened fire, reported Greater Kashmir.
“Three militants targeted Kawa in his home,” Kulgam Superintendent of Police Harmeet Singh said. “He has succumbed to his injuries. It is not clear why he was targeted. He was a civilian.
Kawak is the 12th person to be killed in the last one week in Kashmir, according to the Hindustan Times. Home Minister Singh blamed “violence and killings” by militants for revoking the Ramzan ceasefire. Officials said there were 20 grenade attacks, 50 militant strikes and 41 killings in Kashmir during the month-long ceasefire in the Valley.
