Bihar: Eight held on charges of sedition and attempt to promote disharmony
The police said a video allegedly showed them playing an ‘anti-national’ song at an event organised in Rohtas district.
The Bihar Police on Monday arrested eight people, including five minors, on charges of sedition and attempt to promote disharmony after a video purportedly showed them playing an “anti-national song” at an event, the Hindustan Times reported.
Rohtas Superintendent of Police Satyaveer Singh confirmed the arrests and said the video clip has been sent for forensic examination. “The authenticity of the clip would be confirmed only after forensic report,” he said.
The police said the video was shot during an event organised to mark Eid in Rohtas district’s Dhoosh locality. The video went viral after it was posted on social media on Saturday.
The video showed hundreds of people dancing to the “anthem of terror outfits in Pakistan”, the police said, adding that the participants were seen raising slogans in favour of Pakistan and terrorist organisations.
Mohammad Raza Khan, the organiser of the function, music system operator Ashish Kumar and driver Mukesh Kumar were among the eight people arrested.
