BJP demands Digvijaya Singh be sacked from Congress for accusing RSS of backing ‘Hindu terrorists’
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s spokesperson Sambit Patra said Singh had denigrated Hindus and called them terrorists.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday demanded that the Congress sacks its leader Digvijaya Singh for accusing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh of promoting terrorism, reported The Indian Express.
“You [Digvijaya Singh] pointed a finger at millions of Hindus, denigrated them [and] called them terrorists,” said BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra. He also asked why Congress President Rahul Gandhi took Hindus for granted.
On Tuesday, Singh said that all Hindu terrorists “caught so far have been RSS members in the past”. “Nathu Ram Godse who killed Mahatma Gandhi was also part of RSS.”
Patra said that making statements against Hindus had been the Congress’ strategy, one the party had always been unapologetic about, PTI reported. “We don’t want [an] apology, we demand Congress leader Digvijaya Singh be sacked from the party.”
“The Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections are around the corner, and the senior Congress leader and the party’s coordination in-charge of the state [have] spoken against Hindus, he talked about Hindu terrorists and RSS,” Patra said at a press conference in Delhi, adding that the Congress had started the “politics of appeasement” ahead of the Assembly polls.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also demanded that Singh be sacked. “I don’t understand why Digvijaya Singh always has Hindu terrorism on his mind,” Chouhan told ANI. “The people Singh has accused have been proved innocent, and they will not tolerate this mentality of dishonouring Hinduism and Hindus. It is the height of madness.”
