A 10-year-old boy died after being shot in the head for allegedly plucking mangoes from an orchard at Pathraha village in Bihar’s Khagaria district on Thursday, reported The Times of India.
Gogri Police Station House Officer Deepak Kumar Yadav told the daily that Satyam Kumar was playing with other children in a mango orchard when he was shot in the head.
“Satyam’s father Makuni Yadav has alleged his child was shot for plucking mangoes,” Deepak Yadav said. “The other children fled from the spot and informed the villagers.”
Makuni Yadav named orchard watchman Ramashish Yadav as the accused. The police said the watchman was on the run, adding that the orchard was owned by Baroh Chaudhary.
Gogri Sub-Divisional Police Officer Pramod Kumar Jha said police were investigating if someone at the orchard was using a firearm that went off accidentally.
