Gujarat: Body of Class 9 student with stab wounds found in Vadodara school toilet
The police, who suspect a Class 10 student to be behind the incident, are examining close circuit television camera footage.
A 14-year-old tribal student was found with stab wounds in the washroom of a school in Gujarat’s Vadodara district on Friday, ANI reported. The Class 9 student succumbed to his injuries before the ambulance could arrived.
Investigating officials are searching for a Class 10 student after they found a sharp-edged weapon and a chilli powder mixture in his bag. The police did not reveal what the weapon was.
“The police have apprehended four students and interrogation is on,” Vadodara Commissioner of Police Manoj Shashidhar told the Hindustan Times. “While it is clear that one of them, who is a Class 10 student, committed the murder. But one of the other three might have assisted him. The facts will soon be out.”
The police are examining close circuit television camera footage. “The owner of the bag is one of our prime suspects but we are yet to investigate the CCTV footage,” Wadi Police Station Investigating Officer AK Wadiya told The Indian Express earlier. “We also believe that it could be a planned murder and more than one student can be involved in the murder.”
“The secondary session of the school starts at 12 pm,” the school’s principal Surendra Singh told The Times of India. “When some secondary standard students went to the washroom on the first floor at about 11.30 am, they found him lying in the pool of blood. The students raised an alarm following which our staff rushed to washroom. We called the emergency services and police.”
The police are awaiting the postmortem report.
In September, a seven-year-old boy was found murdered in the toilet of a private school in Gurugram, Haryana. A 16-year-old student was detained for the Class 2 student’s murder. The Central Bureau of Investigation said the Class 11 student took the step to get the school closed so that a parent-teacher meeting and an examination would be deferred.
