Mumbai: Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli served legal notice by man they rebuked for littering a road
A spokesperson for the actor said the couple’s legal team was looking into the matter.
Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma and her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli, have been served a legal notice by a man who Sharma scolded for littering a road in Mumbai, ANI reported on Sunday.
Arhhan Singh, a part-time actor, reportedly sent Sharma and Kohli a legal notice on Saturday for shaming him on social media. ““Hi. My legal advisors have sent a notice to Mr Virat Kohli and Mrs Anushka Sharma Kohli,” ANI quoted Singh as saying. “As the ball is in their court, no comments now..as in all fairness I should await their response.”
Sharma’s official spokesperson told The Indian Express that the couple’s legal team was looking into the matter.
On June 16, Kohli posted a video in which Sharma rebukes Singh for throwing a piece of plastic on the road from his vehicle. Sharma is seen asking him why he was throwing garbage on the road. “Don’t throw garbage on the road,” the actor tells him. “You can’t just throw plastic around like that on the streets. Use a dustbin.”
After Kohli’s video gained over a million views on social media sites, Singh took to Facebook to accuse Sharma of “ranting and yelling like a crazy roadside person”. He also apologised for littering the road. “The garbage that mistakenly went out of the window of my luxury car...was way less then the garbage that came out from your mouth.”
Congress Spokesperson Sanjay Jha too questioned Sharma and Kohli about the social media post. “Celebrities don’t need to promote themselves when supposedly attempting a good thing,” Jha tweeted on Saturday. “How much publicity do you want, guys?”
