The Uttar Pradesh police have booked two people for allegedly raping a minor on the pretext of helping her get a job, the Hindustan Times reported on Monday.

Gulharia Station House Officer Gulab Yadav said the police filed a case against two people, identified as Afroz and Sonali, under IPC sections 376 (rape), 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating) and 511 (offences punishable with life or other imprisonments).

“An FIR has been lodged based on the complaint of the victim, who has been sent for medical examination,” Yadav said. “Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.”

The 15-year-old girl told the police that four people lured her to Gorakhpur from Balrampur district on the pretext of helping her find a nursing job at Baba Raghav Das Medical College. The girl, a Class 9 student at a school in Balrampur, allegedly met one of the accused, Sonali, ten days ago, the police said. She had promised to help her find a job.

On Saturday afternoon, Sonali met her at the Gorakhpur railway station and took her to the hospital. There, she introduced the girl to three men, who were also purportedly there for the job interview.

The girl claimed that Sonali sent the girl and one of the men, Afroz, to the burn ward so that they could charge their phones. Instead, Afroz took her to the building’s terrace and raped her. The two other men also raped her after this, she told the police.
