A school bus driver drowned in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Monday while trying to rescue two children who were stuck in a drain in the heavy rain, reported NDTV. The incident occurred in Narangi village.
The police said that 40-year-old Prakash Babu Patil was dropping the children home when his van toppled into a drain. Patil saw that two children were drowning in the rainwater and attempted to rescue them. He managed to save them, but lost his balance and was swept away by the current, an unidentified police officer of Arnala station told Mid-Day. “We have filed an accidental death report, and investigation is going on,” the officer said.
His body was recovered by fire and rescue services personnel, NDTV reported.
