A taxi driver allegedly raped a 20-year-old woman in Goa’s Vasco on Thursday evening, PTI reported. The police said they arrested 48-year-old Ravichandra Bhat on Friday morning. He has been sent to police remand for seven days.
Vasco Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo said Bhat runs a taxi service at the airport and resides in the port town. “When the accused found the complainant walking alone on the airport road, he offered her a lift,” Raposo told the news agency. “When she refused, he dragged her into the vehicle and took her to an isolated place in Vasco where he sexually assaulted her.”
The police are investigating the case.
