The Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir resumed on Sunday after remaining suspended for a day due to inclement weather, PTI reported. The fourth batch of 6,877 pilgrims left for Nunwan-Pahalgam and Baltal base camps in 229 vehicles on Sunday morning, officials said.

Traffic on the highway was blocked on Saturday after state authorities declared flood in the Valley. However, after the water level in Jhelum river started receding, pilgrims from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp were allowed to join the yatra.

The pilgrimage commenced on June 28 and will conclude on August 26.

Meanwhile, at least four people were killed in the state in rain-related incidents, Rising Kashmir reported. Director of the meteorological department in Srinagar, Sonam Lotus, said the flood condition in the state has improved and there would be dry weather on Sunday. “On Monday and Tuesday, there will be another spell of rains, which would be of lesser magnitude,” he said, according to Greater Kashmir. “The weather is overall improving.”
