Jammu and Kashmir: Three civilians killed during clashes with Army in Kulgam district
Mobile internet services have been suspended in four south Kashmir districts.
At least three people were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday in clashes with security forces. Six people were injured in the clashes, which are currently under way.
The Army opened fire on civilians after villagers in Hawoora pelted stones at them while they were conducting a cordon and search operation, IANS reported, citing police officials.
The deceased have been identified as Shakir Ahmad Khanday, Irshad Ahmad and a 16-year-old girl, GNS reported.
Mobile internet services have been suspended in south Kashmir districts of Kulgam, Shopian, Anantnag and Pulwama since clashes broke out, officials said. Authorities have also imposed restrictions on several parts of Kashmir ahead of the second death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
