Manipur: Assam Rifles soldier killed in IED explosion near Myanmar border

An Assam Rifles soldier was killed and three others were injured when militants triggered an improvised explosive device near the India and Myanmar border in Manipur’s Kamjong district on Monday, PTI reported. The soldier who was killed was identified as Ningthoujam Subash Singh, a resident of Khangabok village in Thoubal district, The Telegraph reported. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Skipe village is around 40 km from the Kamjong district headquarters and it takes three hours to reach by road, an unidentified police official told the newspaper. Kamjong is about 120 km from Manipur’s capital Imphal.
The Assam Rifles launched a massive operation around the jungles in the area after the incident but nothing came of it.
