J&K: Suspected militants kill policeman guarding National Conference leader’s home in Pulwama
They injured another another policeman and reportedly decamped with service rifles.
A police officer was killed and another was injured on Monday after militants opened fire at a police post guarding the home of a National Conference leader in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Rising Kashmir reported. The police officer was identified as Mudasir Ahmad.
The policemen were guarding National Conference district president Ghulam Mohiudin at Murran when militants attacked. Mohiudin escaped unhurt.
The militants decamped with the two policemen’s service rifles, Senior Superintendent of Police (Pulwama) Mohammad Aslam Choudhary told Rising Kashmir.
“The police have registered a case and an investigation into the matter has been initiated,”Greater Kashmir quoted an unidentified spokesperson as saying.
Initial probe has indicated that Zahoor Thokar group of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit is involved in the attack, the police said.
