The encounter took place at around 6am in a forest near Timinar and Pusnar villages along the border of Bijapur and Dantewada districts when a joint team of District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force was out on an anti-Maoist operation, Deputy Inspector General of Police P Sundarraj said, according to PTI.
The security forces were cordoning off forest areas in Timinar and Pusnar villages when a gunfight broke out with the Maoists. “After the guns fell silent, bodies of seven Maoists, including three women, were recovered from the spot,” Sundarraj said. Another body was later recovered as well.
