Jammu and Kashmir: Four suspected militants killed, a para commando injured in gunfight in Baramulla
Director General of Police SP Vaid said there were reports of five armed men being present in Dooniwari forest.
Four suspected militants were killed during a gunfight with security forces in the forests of Rafiabad in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday, ANI reported. A para commando was also injured.
“Encounter going on in Dooniwari forest area of Police Station Dangiwacha Sopore, report of presence of five terrorists,” tweeted Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police SP Vaid.
A joint team of Army’s 32 Rashtriya Rifles and 9 Para Commandos launched a cordon-and-search operation in the forest early on Wednesday, reported Global News Service, when they came in contact with the suspected militants.
An unidentified police officer said the suspected militants are believed to have recently infiltrated across the Line of Control through the district’s Uri sector.
An unidentified Army officer said another encounter that broke out on Wednesday morning in the district’s Veejay Top forest area is still going on.
