Telugu Desam Party MP Naramalli Sivaprasad arrived for Thursday’s Parliament proceedings dressed up as dictator and leader of the Nazi Party, Adolf Hitler. Sivaprasad, an actor-turned-politician, wore the costume to demand special category status for Andhra Pradesh, the Hindustan Times reported.

This is not the first time Sivaprasad has worn something unique to draw attention to his cause in Parliament. On Monday, the Chittoor MP came to the Lok Sabha dressed as Ram. In the past, he has dressed as Lord Krishna, spiritual guru Sathya Sai Baba, mythological Vedic sage Narad Muni and an overgrown schoolboy, among other characters, DNA reported.

Earlier this year, the Telugu Desam Party quit the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance, after the Centre refused to grant Andhra Pradesh special status. The Chandrababu Naidu-led party then moved a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha, which the Centre had easily won.

On July 21, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu claimed that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had given assurances about a special status for Andhra Pradesh after the state was bifurcated in 2014 to create Telangana. Narendra Modi, then a prime ministerial candidate, had also promised to fulfil all the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act in letter and spirit in designated time, the chief minister added.
