Jyotiraditya Scindia joins BJP a day after Congress exit, named Rajya Sabha candidate
Scindia, who was in the Congress for 18 years, joined the BJP earlier in the day and said the country’s future is ‘safe in the hands’ of Narendra Modi.
Former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi and was named the party’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh. Scindia hit out at the Congress in a press conference, saying the party is “living in denial”.

Scindia’s exit from the party and the subsequent resignations of 22 MLAs, including six state ministers, has left the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh on the verge of collapse. The Madhya Pradesh government now has a wafer-thin majority of just four above the majority mark of 116. If the resignations are accepted, the Congress will lose power.
