Siddharth Sathyajit’s short film Heart of a Lion begins with a voiceover in English, which is revealed a few seconds later to belong to Rupesh Krishna Rao Pawar (badge number 060036). Family circumstances forced Pawar to chuck a private sector job and join the force at the lowest rung of the police hierarchy despite advice to the contrary. In the film, he discusses his impact of his erratic work hours on his family life, concerns for his children’s future, and his reaction to the overall lack of respect from the public he he is supposed to protect. Heart of a Lion was screened in the shorts section at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in October 2015.
