Veerappan The Hindi version of Ram Gopal Verma’s Kannada movie Killing Veerappan is about the manhunt that resulted in the smuggler’s death in 2004. Operation Cocoon, as it was known, is reconstructed through two police officers: K Vijay Kumar, head of the joint Special Task Forces, and police officer Senthamarai Kannan. The movie was a hit in Karnataka, a rare feat for a once-great director in a creative slump. Sandeep Bhardwaj reprises the role he played in the Kannada version, alongside Sachiin J Joshi and Lisa Ray.
